Mumbai Records Its Strongest March in 14 Years for Property Registrations
Mumbai registered 15,516 properties in March 2026 — the best March in 14 years — generating more than ₹1,492 crore in stamp duty.
Registrations were almost flat against March 2025, but stamp duty collections jumped 32% from the previous month, pointing to steady end-user demand backed by stable economic conditions and ongoing infrastructure work.
Homes again dominated at nearly 80% of registrations. The clearest shift was toward the mid-segment: flats priced between ₹1 crore and ₹2 crore rose to 38% of sales from 32% a year earlier, while the sub-₹1-crore share fell.
The numbers suggest Mumbai's housing demand is being led by genuine buyers upgrading within the mid-price band, rather than by investors alone.
