Mumbai Logs Its Best Property Year in 14 Years in 2025
Mumbai recorded 1,50,254 property registrations in 2025 — its highest in 14 years — and the stamp duty they generated rose to ₹13,487 crore, also a 14-year peak.
December alone saw 14,447 registrations and ₹1,263 crore in stamp duty, up 16% and 11% from a year earlier. Homes drove the activity, with residential properties making up about 80% of registrations.
The western suburbs took the biggest share at 57%, followed by the central suburbs at 29%. Demand strengthened across price bands, and the ₹1-2 crore mid-segment grew to about a third of sales.
Affordability also improved, helped by steadier home-loan costs. The record year points to firm end-user demand and confidence in Mumbai housing going into 2026.
