Mumbai: Dissidents seek report on SGM granting Taximen's colony...

A group of dissenting members of the Taximen's Colony cooperative housing society in Mumbai has demanded a detailed report on the special general meeting at which the redevelopment of the colony was approved. The members have questioned whether due process was followed in sanctioning the project and appointing the developer.

The objectors are seeking minutes, attendance records and the basis on which consent was recorded, contending that procedural safeguards under cooperative society rules must be verified before the redevelopment proceeds. Such disputes commonly stall large colony reconstructions in the city.

Redevelopment of older Mumbai colonies frequently triggers internal friction over developer selection, corpus, carpet area and transparency. Authorities typically require documented majority consent before the project can move to approval and construction stages.
