SRA Invites Tenders for Redevelopment of Ten Stalled Slum Projects in Mumbai

The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has initiated a crucial move to revive ten stalled slum redevelopment projects in Mumbai by inviting bids for their redevelopment. This initiative aims to rehabilitate a total of 4,740 slum households across 19 acres of land in various locations, including Andheri West, Antop Hill in Wadala, Goregaon, Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road, Vikhroli, Chembur, and Deonar.

Direct Contractor Appointments

In a shift from its previous approach, the SRA is now directly appointing contractors to complete these redevelopment projects. Historically, the authority had been issuing letters of intent and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to private builders. This new strategy is aimed at expediting the redevelopment process and ensuring that the projects are completed efficiently.

Auction-Based Redevelopment Process

The redevelopment will follow an auction-based model, where the winning bid will be determined by the builder who offers the highest number of Potential Additional Tenements (PAP) from the sale component. This competitive bidding process is expected to attract more interest from builders, ultimately leading to better outcomes for the slum residents.

Addressing Stalled Schemes

This initiative is part of a broader effort to tackle the 228 stalled schemes across Mumbai. These projects are being distributed to various government agencies, including the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). By involving multiple agencies, the SRA aims to streamline the redevelopment process and enhance the living conditions for thousands of families.
